LS Fest is a qualifier for the Optima USCI

Another brief update- The LS Fest Autocross event counts as a qualifier for the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational. The USCI is an invitational only event and this year’s LS Fest is one of the few events that can qualify a car and its owner for entry (only one entrant will be invited from LS Fest). USCI, which is sponsored by K&N, Optima, and Ridetech, is “…an event designed to give builders and owners of some of the world’s most awesome street driven cars the opportunity to show off their stuff on a closed circuit professional road-racing course.” Visit their site, www.optimainvitational.com, for more information.

Holley LS Fest Info!

As noted on our Facebook page, the design for the LS Fest T-shirt has been finalized. It features a cutaway of the famed LS9 engine from the ZR-1 complete with a list of sponsors for the event. Check it out below!
Another interesting mention: We at Holley understand there might be automotive students that are attending and/or competing in LS Fest this year. So…Automotive Students may attend LS Fest FREE as a spectator or on a 30% discount as a participant (Must register at the event to receive discount). Just bring proof of enrollment in automotive training - student ID, class schedule, recent report card etc.
All LS Fest participants will be receiving a Holley LS Fest windshield banner and two LS Fest decals! These will be supplied within goodie bags handed out upon entrance of the event.

Holley has partnered with the Holiday Inn University Plaza in Bowling Green, KY to set up the host hotel for LS Fest participants during the event dates of September 10-12th, 2010. To all those who are hoping to win one of our events this September, here’s a little something to encourage competitors to knock that extra tenth off their times. We’ve finished designing the logo for the jackets that class winners will be receiving. The jackets are red and black and come with an LS Fest logo on the breast. The jackets also feature zip-off hoods and are water resistant! Take a look!

Car Craft Engine Swap Challenge

Want a new LS engine for your street machine? This is your chance to win one! Here’s how it works: Two teams of no more than four participants each must swap a running non-LS engine for a LS-engine in the time allotted. The team that completes the swap and drives the car first wins the contest and the new engine.
We will supply an area to work, an engine hoist, and the crate engine. Each team must supply their own vehicle, fluids, drain pans, hand tools, and everything else to make the swap happen. No air/power tools will be permitted. Each vehicle must drive under its own power through the front gate and into the ES Challenge area where it will be allowed to cool until Noon on Friday, the official start time.
To win the contest, the vehicle must have the engine in the engine bay, it must start using the ignition key, idle, and drive on a predetermined route led by contest officials before Noon on Sunday, September 12, 2010. The winning team drives home with the swapped engine, the losing team can either pay a predetermined fixed price and buy the engine, or swap it out and return it to Holley.
This is an invitational. Check out the Entry Swap Challenge Page for entry details. The contest is limited to 1955-’97 American rear-wheel-drive cars and trucks only. Car Craft editors will select the two teams and two alternates. Deadline for entries is August, 10, 2010.

Holley Announces LS Fest Event for September 2010

Holley Performance Products is proud to announce the 2010 Holley LS Fest, scheduled for September 10th thru 12th at Beech Bend Raceway Park, Holley’s hometown racetrack in Bowling Green, KY.
The Holley LS Fest will be a celebration of everything and anything powered by the incredible GM LS engine. If an LS based engine is powering your ride or if you are considering a swap to LS power, this is your event. Spectators are welcome.
Activities planned include a drag race, autocross, 0-60-0 speed stop challenge and show-n-shine. Champions will be crowned including a grand champion who attains the highest overall score from all event activities. In addition to rule based drag race classes, an unlimited class drag race will be held to find the baddest LS powered car on the planet. A manufacturers’ midway will be on site, activities such as a countryside cruise are planned to keep things fun and there will be tons of door prizes from the industry’s top parts suppliers.
Holley’s CEO, Tom Tomlinson, said, “We are just a bunch of gearheads that love GM LS engines and this event will allow us to celebrate these remarkable engines with other GM LS engine enthusiasts. It will be a serious event, but we also intend to have a lot of fun.
